Peter Altmaier, Federal Secretary of Economic and Energy Affairs delivered the greetings of German Chancellor Angela Merkel for the 10th anniversary of the German Senate of the Economy. Secretary Altmaier thanked the Senators for their support and engagement over the last decade. He stated that a successful economy is the best way to tackle the challenges of public welfare and climate change. The fact that all major digital companies are based in the US requires enormous efforts in global competition for Germany and Europe. Senate representatives handed Secretary Altmaier a paper on climate change issues.
Guest speaker Auma Obama, a community activist, author and Member of the World Future Council was also in attendance. Ms. Obama currently lives in Nairobi (Kenya) and is the older half-sister of US President Barack Obama. She endorsed the viewpoint that Africa is not just a country, it is an entire continent.
